Avatar, also known as James Cameron’s Avatar, is an American 3-D science fiction epic film written and directed by James Cameron, and was released on December 16, 2009[1] by 20th Century Fox. The film is co-produced by Lightstorm Entertainment, and focuses on an epic conflict on Pandora, an inhabited Earth-sized moon of Polyphemus, one of three fictional gas giants orbiting Alpha Centauri A. On Pandora, human colonists and the sentient humanoid indigenous inhabitants of Pandora, the Na’vi, engage in a war over the planet’s resources and the latter’s continued existence.The film’s title refers to an avatar, a 3-D representation of a real person in a virtualized world.
Cameron came up with a lot of original ideas for this film, but the story was not one of them. Although it was well put together, clean, and everything played out like clock-work, there was no originality to it. As everyone realized as they were walking out of the theater, the film is Dances with Wolves but with blue cat-like aliens. It’s every video game you’ve ever played, ever steamy-action novel you’ve ever read, every plot line you’ve seen before in a big budget film. Is it well told? Absolutely! But with all the time and money Cameron put into it, I would expect him to tell an old story well. I get that he took a number of risks, so maybe asking for an original story was taking things too far…
This is truly an example of epic visual masterpiece that you’ve all been waiting for. “Avatar” is indeed an admirable effort because not even once viewers feel that it’s an ‘alien story’ (pun intended) being told. There is a love story brewing between Sam’s Na’vi avatar with the Pandora princess (Zo Saldana) and soon he discovers an altogether new world. Literally. He wages a battle of his own with support from a handful of friends from ’sky people’ along with tribe members and animals belonging to all shapes and sizes.
The story wants to convey that Cameron is a big fan of Bollywood film from the 60s and the 70s. Just like his last effort “Titanic”. Avatar indeed is not a truly film to be watch out for and then talked about. It is one to be experienced

Synopsis of Avatar Movie:
Story of Avatar movie revolves around the lead character - Jake Sully. He is former U.S. Marine who is paralyzed now by his injury. He is selected for Avatar program. The Avatar program will make him able to walk. By the program Jake travels to Pandora. Pandora is a verdant jungle which is covered with celestial moon and filled with incredible life forms. There are some beautiful and some terrible.
Pandora is a place of primitive age. People of Pandora are physically capable than humans. They are approximately 10 feet tall. They have sparking blue skin. Human search goes deeper into Pandora’s forest in search of valuable minerals.
By the Avatar program, Jake unwittingly becomes a part of this encroachment. Humans are unable to breathe the air on Pandora. So, they have created genetically-bred hybrids that are known as Avatars.
Now, Jake is able to walk on the Pandora by his Avatar body. He goes deep into the Pandora's jungles as a scout and encounters many of Pandora's beauties and dangers. Finally, he meets a young Na’vi female – Neytiri.
During the time period, Jake integrates himself into the Neytiri. At last, they are caught by military-industrial forces of Earth. Now, Na’vi forces him to choose sides in an epic battle.
